R & R

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to say that after nearly three weeks in hospital and two minor surgeries later, I'm once more back at home, being cared for by my wife and family. I took the opportunity to ask the nurse that was changing my bandage to take a photograph of the underlying wound, hence the photograph !
No stitches these days, just staples - all 26 on the main wound!
Thanks for all the support, both on my blog and those by email, they were all very much appreciated when I was at my lowest, experiencing the most excruciating pain I've ever known. I'm still in some pain, but at least it's not debilitating and is well under control. I tire easily and quickly, so my catch up of all your blogs will take some time, but I'll get around to them all in time, as I get back in the saddle, so to speak, day by day.
My mission to playtest Frank Sultana's gladiatorial rules hit a major set-back too, but I'll be getting around to looking at those again as my hobby-related priority - but all in time.

In the meantime, as the title to this post suggests, it a major period of Rest and Recuperation for me for the foreseeable future and I still have energy-draining, out-patient appointments to attend.

Once more, thanks to all of you all that view this blog, for your support and well wishes, hopefully I'll have something more hobby-related next time, but that's it for this week.

  2. Thats great news Joe! Take it easy & allow the body to heal, as we certainly don't recover as quickly as we did in our youth. The nice thing about our hobby, is that it will wait for you to return without complaint.

    1. Thanks Terry, wise words indeed, I've been given at least two more months before I see a lot of improvement, so I'm readying myself for the long haul. You're right about the hobby too, I can pick and dip into it at any time.

  7. Blimey Joe that sounds like you had a really bad time of it. I'm away at the moment with very limited internet so didn't see your earlier posts. It's good to know you're on the road to recovery and that the pain has ceased.
Pretty ugly looking zipper you have to show for it all. Not up to your usual picture standards ;)

    1. Thanks John, it's been a difficult period and I'm still not out of the woods re pain, but I do have lots of back-up meds. Yeah, the phot was done on my phone by the nurse, not my usual style with camera.

    2. I'd have to agree about the photo. It was in focus this time, ;)maybe you should get your nurse to take the photos for your blog. :)
Pleased you're on the mend, but sorry to hear the pain hasn't gone totally, it can be very debilitating, not to say worrying.
      Take care.

    3. Haha, blurry photos are an integral part of my blogging and I'll not be using any freelancers in future. I reckon the pain is going to be with me for a good while yet (a month or more say the docs), but it's not that bad to leave me unable to do anything (I have avoid lifting anything - so it's not all bad).

As I wasn't a great fan of rushing anything before hospitalisation I will continue in that vein for the foreseeable future ;-)

    1. Thanks Iain, ithappens to me all the time. Im hoping to test v1.3 of Frank's (Furt's) rules in the coming week. I may have to take a diffferent approach to a write-up as a two man contest is ppretty boring.

    1. Thanks Roy, we all have things that prevent us doing what we want, so I wouldn't worry about missing an opportunity tto comment, but your thoughts are welcome.
