Gunfighters #3 and #4

I've posted this week's blog slightly earlier as on Monday morning we're having work done on our Interweb speed thing (sorry about the technical terms) and should last until early evening.
I've just about finished two more gunfighters this last week; they still have some detailing to be done on them though, hatband, belt buckles etc. As their paint was flaking off, for some reason or other, I decided I'd varnish them along with the two already finished gunfighters before proceeding further.
Here's the photographs:

Sorry, no full frontal shot (ooh, err, missus) of the second gunfighter of of this  pair due to technical difficulties (camera battery), but there are two rear views (for those that like that sort of thing).
Bonus group shot of the four gunfighters so far:

That's it then for this week, next week I'm making a start on the church (how difficult can four walls be?), so expect a wip-type post.
As always, your comments are both welcomed and appreciated.

    1. Thanks Michal, they're good, but not great minis and even so my painting doesn't do them justice.

  2. Terrific work on Bernardo O'Reilly and Chico, Joe. They really do look the business, especially in the group shot alongside Chris Adams and Vin Tanner. 'That's four.' :-)

  4. Thee are both fine additions. It must be the angle of the shots but the crouching guy almost seems like he is a smaller scale.

    1. Thanks Brummie, in reality, to me at least, he seems to be the same scale as the others, but in the film he;s based on heis much shorter than most of the rest of the cast - perhaps 5'6" rather than the 6' of most of the others. I mst admit I'd rather have had ghim standing !

  5. Lovely job on these two, and again they have really good dynamic poses. The group shot could be off a movie poster :-)

I know what you mean about varnishing minis halfway through painting them, for some reason Vallejo Black has a tendency to just fall off if rubbed/knocked so I usually end up varnishing those bits as I go.

    1. Thanks matt, hen they're all finished I may try and replicate some of the posters !
It's Vallejo Blues I've been having problems with, with their light and dark blues, but then again I;m bot using the same underocat I've used in the past, so maybe that's the problem.

    2. Yeah, it could be a primer issue. I've found most Vallejo blues to be really good, but everyone ends up with an issue sooner or later no matter what brand or colour they're using. I had similar problems with Army Painter blues and Reaper white.

    3. I have had many issues with yellows with just about every brand of paint, Citadel, Army painter and others.
