Happy New Year

Hi all, just a quick post to wish you all out there a Happy New Year and hoping this ine is better than last year.
On a personal note, I've been unwell since Christmas Eve, I suspect, with another bout of bronchitis and haven't managed to look at any posts on other blogs, a situation I'll try and remedy as I'm fit enough.
in other news, as I cannot see myself playing any games in the near future, save for those I'll be playing at thn end of January when I'm on holiday, nor will I be making any scenery etc. My aid in the  playtesting of the Gladiator rules "Blood on the Sands", has also seemed to have run its course, as I haven't had replies to my latest emails, many weeks ago. With all this in mind, my blog is going monthly as of this year, and I'll be endeavouring to post something on the first Monday of each Month.

So that's it from me, I hope you all have a Happy New Year.

  1. Hope you feel better soon Joe, and that 2023 is a better year for you. Can fully understand your move to a monthly post, if it works for you, that's the main thing.

  6. A belated Happy New Year Joe, to you and Mrs Joe. I did try and wish you all the best for the New Year but B'std Blogger wouldn't let me until now.
Sorry to hear that the Gladiator Games are being curtailed I've still not go round to reading Furt's thread, it's just too long I'm afraid, maybe one day.
How complex are the rules, is it something that could be played virtually. I wondered in the past about trying to do something like that on my blog, when there were a number of people active and playing similar games to myself. Sadly there are none of them still posting anymore.
Anyway, back to my thoughts. If you had a playing map (Picture) that was notated so that someone could say, move from X3 to Y4 and throw the net to Z2 and you had already made your move notations. Could you then enact the move, calculate the results and post a new picture showing the new positions and situation? I wonder if you could have 2 or 3 of your regular followers fighting in 2 or 3 virtual arena's at the same time.
It might give you opponents as well as games, or it might just be a pain in the arse. ;)

  7. Thanks John, belatedly or not it's still a plesure hering from you.
As for the LAF thread, it's reallyonly th last few pages (maybe 10) that are relevantto this new version of BotS.
There are also a coupe of very good videoas on urs's blog and iirc Youtube- one of which is a birtual gladiator game. It's reallysuch a simple game that I'm pretty sure virtual games are definetly possible.
I'm such a dinosaur that I'd not be able to do it, but there are those that can(a system called D20 springs to mind)
