This has been a very frustrating exercise, getting anything close to a post, I doubt very much I can keep this up. Just getting these few pictures onto something that looks half-decent has been a two-hour nightmare.
Sorry to hear your still having problems with blogger Joe, I do hope it gets easier for you and you keep blogging, but can fully understand if the frustration persists that you would stop, but that would be a huge loss to the community.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings are looking great, and the old faded paint gives it a real natural feel to it
Thanks Dave, three attempts at a post today, but using your method of words first then add the pics seemed to work Ok. It was a bit strange having to comment on pics without seeing them as I normally would, but it's still a post, though very difficult, for me, at least, to edit what I'd done.
DeleteWith this limited success , I will be posting next week.
well done and thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Douglas, much appreciated
DeleteThat's a real shame Joe you having these problems & I know from first hand experience how frustration it can be, like Dave I to would be sorry to see you have to pack in blogging.
ReplyDeleteWith 2 out of the 4 cells in use I think it would be fair to say that it was a very wild west town :)
Thand Frank, I can't remembe rthem being there or why they were incarcerated, but this jail was limited in its inmates to sentences a month or less, iirc.
DeleteHate new blogger..
ReplyDeleteBTW, great work!
Thanks Michal, after a little research online there's a lot of folk who are having problems like me. I now know we're not alone.
DeleteI like the pic entitled cell access with the doors from the cell laying on the ground. Looks like there's been a jailbreak already.
ReplyDeleteWith the old blogger I had already written my story with the pictures in microsoft word, I then delete the pictures and save it as a renamed file, then copy and paste the text into blogger. Then there is a button that says something like remove text foremat. That creates a load of additional lines, I then go through and delete all the extra spaces and then add back the spaces I require.
Then I import the pictures in the right place and then remove more additional spaces. The pictures are imported individually.
This is immensely time consuming but does work. I found with my last post that they had changed things again so that my original process worked with the new blogger, still imensly time consuming but back to what I understand.
The minute the format goes adrift there is no way I can correct it and that is the most frustrating thing about blogger, but it's always been like this for me.
You sound as if you have a system that works for you quicker than mine does for me, so stick with it.
Thanks Vagabond, I too used ot write up my blog firstly on WOrd and porting it over to blogger when done. I found that I was spending far more time than I'd anitcipated on posts and started using blogger directly.
DeleteI consider this post to be my most cucessful on the new blogger, typing first then adding photographs afterwards.
Formatting is still a mystery to me with this new blogger!
Btw, the cell doors are rather like trap=doors, built into the floor and as they're about fifty years old and haven't srrn the light of day for well over thirty years, I think they've survived rather well, unlike myself!
(I've also found two more buildings, I'd forgotten about !)
Another excellent post. Keep them coming. Fingers crossed Blogger gets smart and brings back the legacy mode; albeit I have read that they've now updated the new version's code to the point where the legacy version wouldn't work anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks Blaxx, I think Blogger's obstinancy knows no bounds and won;t change at all and I reckon a lot of bloggers will drop out.
DeleteI feel your pain Zabadak! This new version of Blogger is being difficult, with just trying to get text to be left justified after an image is added. We can hope that they will improve it. Until then I think most of my text will be centre justified & will just live with it. Great work on the building! Is it all cardstock?
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry, I've left adding photographs to the end of my text. It does a bit of planning, so I typed up all the text, leaving single blank line where I would later insert the photographs. This seemed to work fairly well and it didn't alter the formatting - something I had a lot of problems with in my earlier attempts.
DeleteGood luck finding something that works.
Good to see you still plugging along Joe, great work 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivor, it is getting a little easier, but still not enjoyable.
DeleteGreat looking building! Nice to see you posting, I think I'm still on legacy until I'm not, hopefully by then it will all have sorted itself out! He says with blind optimism!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, I too was hopeful that the legacy option would last longer, but alas I must have been one of the earlier bloggers to lose its use. After three weeks of using the new version I am able to post something reasonable after only a little extra effort.
DeleteSorry to say I have no faith in the new system getting any easier !
