Trash or Treasure ?

Three western buildings and the mysterious blue box.
After a week where I hardly picked up a paint-brush, I decided to venture into the loft to retrieve another two of my western buildings, that I knew were there. Once I'd figured out how to use the loft ladder I realised there were at  least four, maybe five western buildings stored there along with many other long forgotten 'toys' in a blue box (pictured) and a tool box (to heavy for me to tackle at my age).
I figured that the blue toolbox was my old collection of figures for DnD, but hadn't a clue what the blue box contained.
Skeletons (bit obvious)\
Once brought down from its loft storage (pun intended-  but pathetic -Ed,) and opened it revealed a collection of painted DnD figures from way back when.
From what I can tell and read from the bases, they're a mixture of Ral Partha, Minifigs and I suspect very old Citadel figures (pre-GW).

Here's the rest of the pics:

Peasants ?

Obligatory slightly blurry picture,
I hadn't played DnD for about thirty years until January this year whilst on holiday.  It was a one-off  adventure and very enjoyable (so much so that I've "signed up" for another).

My Zouaves are all but finished, all shading has been done and just a few highlights, tidying up and a couple of flags to be made,  remain to be done before varnishing. I'll be pleased to see the back of them (if I can get motivated enough to finish them).

That's it then for this week in yet another trip down memory lane, but hopefully there is still something here of interest.

As always, your comments are welcomed and truly appreciated.

    1. Thanks MJT, she doesn't vry 'witchlike' imho, no womder I didn't spot it. I think most of my early DnD stuff came from Minifigs - I liked their pig-faced orks.

  3. That "Citadel" wereboar amongst your monsters immediately brought back many very happy memories, Joe. Indeed, I still think I own the figure somewhere. Great find, and what a remarkable collection.

I think it's less than ha;f of my DnD stuff, none of the figures I rememeber using frequently, are there.

  7. Does this mean we are going to see some 54mm western action on the blog, oh I do hope so :)

Those 2nd generation Minifigs had a very strange blocky body shape, I have quite a lot of Civil War ones, easy to paint though, and especially shiny with the gloss varnish.

    Ahh happy days.

    1. HI Vahabond, I doubt very much you'll see a western game from me; seeing how beaten up all my building are left me quite depressed, but I did take a look (again) at the Rules with no name.
I had vast numbers of ECW minifigs all roundheads hadlpbster pots and all cavaliers had feathered hats of course. All my ECW figures are not long gone.

  8. A pity the buildings fell into disrepair over the years Joe but the blue box was an interesting look back into the past :)

    1. Thanks Frank, he buildings were stored haphazardly without my knowledge and don;t have the same value to those that stored them as I have.
The Dn.nD figures came as a complete surprise to me - I only recognised a few figures I know I painted.

    1. Thanks Iain, after DnD first came out I think we all bought what was available, Minifigs, Citadel and RAFM were the most easily got iirc.
