The Full Clan |
OK, so it wasn't really gruelling, just some shading and highlighting on the figures and bases, but it was soooooo boring! (I feel my attention span shortening by the day). But at least they're done with my usual TWD style (That Will DO).
Here's a few photos of them:
Rear view, for those that like that sort of thing |
A mere four items, a mammoth, a baby mammoth, a rat thing (a Diprotodon seemingly) and a pack of Thylacines (Tasmanian tiger/wolf). The latter went extinct as recently as the 20th century.
The mammoth was obviously an IKEA product and of course went together as well as could be expected, with plenty of superglue, hot-glue and filler involved.
After receiving them I immediately went to work basing them all up and undercoating them:
Mother an baby (really small) |
Steve Barber model female) on the left, DZ model on the right |
The Thylacines, great models imho (but a bit blurry) |
Their rears are not as blurry |
The Rat-thing - that amuses me for some reason. |
Rear view, suffering a bit from blurriness |
In addition I'll be udpdating and correcting my QRS thanks to the keen eye of Colgar6!
That's it then from me for this week, one I feel that has been very productive, despite my best efforts
not to be.
As always your comments are both welcomed and appreciated.
They look great Joe, you have lots to keep you busy with this project yet Joe but like all that we do the effort is always worth it in the end. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Frank, you're always supportive and you;re right too that the end product will be well worth all the effort.
DeleteProductive week and I like the mother and baby Mammoths!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, I suspect the Steve Barber mamoths were originially designed for his small 25mm range and haven't yet been updated, but they fit in well nevertheless.
DeleteGreat stuff Joe!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivor, still more to come too!
DeleteNice figures Joe
ReplyDeleteThanks MJT, even if they'll not win any prizes, they look good in a darkened room (if you squint)
DeleteNice, Zab. I feel your pain re the "blurry figures". Nothing worse than trying to paint a blurry figure with two eyes active with free roaming floaters! Ain't getting old a trip?!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay, it's not just the figures that are blurry (without a huge magnifier) but the colours I see now are not the true colours I paint!
DeleteGetting old sucks.
Great models! And completely new, unknown for me period for minis ;)
ReplyDeletebut i'm fell in love ;)
Thanks Michal, in my opoinion, no-one need fantasy with such real fantastical creatures existed.
DeleteGood job on the Neanderthals Joe. Those beasties look interesting
ReplyDeleteThanks dGG, though I don't think they're meant to be Neanderthals, more homo erectus (or something). The beasts, of course, are the stars of the show.
DeleteA fearsome looking tribe/clan. Makes me want to read "Clan of the cave bear !" again. Not read it in over 30 years. Must I think be due a re-read!
ReplyDeleteThanks Clint, though I do think it'll be more like "Carry on Caveman" than anything else. "not heard of the book and strangely I've read very little of this genre, fiction or otherwise.
DeleteBlimey Joe you don't half crack on with this painting business, even with blurry figures. Excellent I'm waiting for the AAR next week.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting the different take on the mammoths, I like the S.B. one even if it's maybe a bit small, it's nice and hairy.
Thanks Vgabond, but I reckoned I was taking it it easy = three weeks to paint a dozen or so figures!
DeleteI wouldn't hold your breath for an aar, it'll be a while yet until I drum up the energy and get the prey sorted.
The SB mammoth was a pain to assemble, the join of the two halves was very bad, but I do like it an it fives a vt of variation to the herd.
I believe that Diprotodon is (was) a type of giant wombat, rather than a rat. Not that this matters one iota if you're on the wrong end of those teeth!
ReplyDeleteWell, the clan looks as if they're prepared for pretty much anything. Let's see how they do :-) .
Thanks C6, You're right of course, as I bieve its a marsupial too.
DeleteHaving read various aars using Palaeo Diet, I'm not holding up much for any immediate successes.
Cracking work Joe, very nice!
ReplyDeleteTjanks AL, I think you're being over-generous, but I'll accept the plaudits anyway.
DeleteGreat report and nice paintjob.I have always wanted these kind of minis myself after "reading" a article in Readers digest about hunting in the stoneage and looking at a picture showing a hunting-diorama from that period.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ptr, I've been interested in this era mainly due to reading of many interesting boardgames of the genre and steve barber's Settlements game and I've finally taken the plunge!
DeleteGreat job on the clan. Some cool looking models coming up to the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brummie, I agree that some of the prehistoric stuff is 'interesting', to say the least !
