Post Xmas Post

New scratch build project starting point
Well, the seasonal holiday festivities are over, the requisite family duties have been completed and another year looms on the horizon.
I feel that haven't really accomplished much though on the hobby front but have managed, more or less, to keep track with most of the blogs I follow as time permitted, including one I have recently started to follow "Outbreak- Gaming the Zombie Apocalypse" hosted by Chris and "Project Z" hosted by C Wheeler, bothof which are well worth a look. There are a few blogs out there too which I really like but don't comment upon (sorry guys) due to my phobia of "Google +" (sorry guys) and if there are any more out there that I missed and that want a shout-out, just let me know.

As for the coming year, I have scratchbuilt a new model using the item in the photograph and I've been building two more box-buildings (no interiors) thanks to a Xmas present of 10 sheets of A1 foamboard. All the buildings are just about complete, save for a few minor details and I'll be posting about them over the next few weeks. I've also been adding some details to the yards I recently made, with piles of rubbish and so on being added as well as finishing the paint-jobs on them, so although I may not have been very productive I have managed some small bits.

That's it then for this week, I hope you had a good break and have a pious and somber New Year.

    1. Thanks Bryan, I'm about 100% sure that you'll be sober, just like me !
I have a suspicion that 2015 will be a repeat, just like all the dross we've had on TV.

    2. I'm much more sombre when I'm not sober --

  3. I always think new year is over-rated. So I shall be having a very grumpy time. So you are not alone.

Sheets of Foam board is always good, looking forward to seeing the results.

    1. Thanks Clint, I think I've done my fair share of New Year celebrating and I'm past that stage now.
The foamboard is very welcome - I've already used one and have earmarked another two or three for my next building (it is huge).

  6. Good to see the seasonal cheer hasn't had too much of an effect on you Joe.
Happy New Year, but you can shove the piety bit.

  7. Happy New Year, Joe!

I can't really say I was bothered by Christmas this year, it was barely noticeable in my tiny bubble and family doesn't come until tomorrow! :D

I do wonder what the round building might be...

    1. And a happy New year to you too mate.
We had a very enjoyable but subdued Christmas celebration and I'll be doing similar at New year.
As for the building all will be revealed in due course as I've just finished painting it today

  8. I've been somewhat put off using cheap cardboard rolls for model-making since my Quonset hut disaster a while back. Still, if you're going to use the tube whole, it should work, I suppose. I'm now waiting eagerly to see what you make with this piece!

    1. I think the trick with cardboard is using undiluted pva glue. I've also been making buildings from scrap card for a very long time (over forty years now) and you get to know will and won't work I guess.
I did use one bit of card in the model that wasn't a tremendous success, but everthing can be fixed ! Model post coming next year !

    1. Thanks Irqan, always good to hear from you. Even though I've made a few more buildings and plans to make a few more, I much rather be playing games.

  11. Hope you had a good New Year Joe. Can't wait to see what the building is going to be! I thought it was an instant-noodle container at first, and thought "student accomodation"! But now I see it's gravy, hmmm... I'm intrigued :-)

    1. Thanks Paul, I had a very quiet New Year by myself. The "building" originally was going to be based on a bouillon pot, which disappeared so gravy had to do. All will be revealed shortly.
